Upstream Appoints Vu Nguyen as Senior Vice-President Global Sales

London & San Francisco, 9 June 2011 – Upstream, the global mobile marketing technology and solutions provider, has appointed Vu Nguyen as the company’s new Senior Vice President, Global Sales. Nguyen will be responsible for global business development and accelerating the adoption of Upstream’s mobile marketing technology platform by brands and operators.

Nguyen brings 15 years of sales and marketing experience to Upstream’s business. This includes key industry milestones such as winning the first 3G mobile network contract in North America for Ericsson and building two new business areas (Global Operators and Enterprise) for Sony Ericsson. His expertise spans a range of communication products and services, covering network infrastructure, managed services, consumer products and mobile VAS (value added services).

Prior to Upstream, Nguyen was Executive Vice President and Head of Global Sales for Telmap, the market leader in EMEA for white-labelled location-based solutions and services for mobile operators. At Telmap Nguyen managed sales operations in EMEA, the Americas and Asia-Pacific, as well as all sales strategies for new business areas, including mobile advertising and premium services.

Before his role at Telmap, Nguyen held executive management roles at Research in Motion as head of the Vodafone global business unit, and at Sony Ericsson as head of Global Accounts and Enterprise Business driving new business development with the company’s six largest global operator customers: VodafoneT-Mobile,OrangeTelefónicaTelecom Italia and Hutchison. Nguyen’s achievement at Ericsson in leading and winning the first 3G mobile network contract in North America with Rogers AT&T Wireless has accounted for more than $2 billion of revenue over the past nine years.

Nguyen holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science and a Masters in Business Administration in International Business and Finance, both from McGill University, Canada. He also attended the Advanced Leadership Program for the top 200 Ericsson executives at Columbia Business School.
