Upstream recently launched its new corporate responsibility initiative, the Updreamers volunteer team, as a way to give back to the community and make a positive impact. The Updreamers team reflects Upstream’s commitment to volunteerism, community, and environmental awareness.
In their latest initiative, Updreamers spent a day at Friends of Animals Nea Filadelfeia, a volunteer-run shelter in Athens that provides a safe haven for injured, abandoned, and neglected animals. Founded in 2006, Friends of Animals operates exclusively on donations and community support, relying on volunteer contributions to care for its residents. As it receives no public or private funding, every support or fundraising activities can make a huge impact to keep the shelter running smoothly.
On Friday, November 8th, 30 Updreamers joined the shelter’s volunteers in hands-on activities, including feeding, walking the dogs, and spending quality time with the animals, using toys and treats to bring joy and companionship to the little furry friends. Under the guidance of the shelter’s manager, they gained insights into the organization’s mission, the importance of animal welfare and adoption, and the vital role that community volunteers play in improving the lives of these animals.
This impactful day of volunteering allowed the Updreamers to connect personally with the animals, experiencing firsthand the profound difference the shelter makes in their lives. Through activities that offered both care and companionship, the team saw how essential the shelter’s work is for the community’s most vulnerable animals.
In addition to providing immediate support, Upstream’s involvement also underscores the company’s long-term commitment to social responsibility and to strengthening impactful NGOs like Friends of Animals Nea Filadelfeia. By supporting the shelter’s mission and its volunteers, Upstream is proud to play a role in enhancing the shelter’s resources and empowering its mission to improve animal welfare within the community. This experience not only reinforced Upstream’s dedication to community-focused initiatives but also highlighted the company’s belief in creating a meaningful difference for both animals and people in need.
With employees from all over the world, the Updreamers team collaborates with non-profit organizations on projects that embody Upstream’s core values and purpose, focusing on three key areas: Technology, Environment, and Society. Through mentorship, environmental preservation, and social support, Upstream and its team work toward building a stronger, more sustainable future.
